Rhianna Williams was on a camping holiday when she learned her results. The 17-year-old was both “relieved” and “chuffed” about getting five As in her Highers

Now back at school for the new academic year, she’s taking maths and music as two of her four Academic Highers. Meanwhile, she’s going to Moray College to study acting and doing an online course in French for the other two.

Heather Manisty was also on holiday when she found out that she’d gained five A grades in her National 5s. On top of that she also passed two Highers, with an A in Maths and a B in Art.

The 15-year-old said: “All my family were with me in the Lake District, so it was a brilliant moment.I was really happy because I’d worked so hard during the whole year that I’d started to worry I’d burned myself out a bit. I was wondering if I’d done enough revision but it all turned out alright.”

Heather is now studying five Highers – French, Biology, Chemistry, English and History.

Abbie Rolph was amongst the other Lossie pupils who excelled. After achieving three As in her Advanced Highers, Abbie will soon begin studying medicine at Edinburgh, becoming the first member of her family to go to university.

Andrew Fiske, last year’s Dux, is also going to Edinburgh after getting three As, and has chosen to do engineering.

Meanwhile, for the first time, the school had a whole class of 20 who took a Higher in Maths a year early.
