Elgin man made sexual remarks to women outside Masonic Close home

A man who has an ASBO to protect the public from his drunken and abusive behaviour made sexual remarks to two women outside his home.

James Shewan, who lives in Masonic Close in Elgin, was made subject of an anti-social behaviour order in June 2023.

But Inverness Sheriff Court was told that on November 16, 2023, Shewan made sexual remarks to two women he encountered outside his home.

The heavily-intoxicated Shewan said to one: "I would like to f***ing sh*g you" and then referred to the other as being "sexy”.

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank was told that Shewan had been remanded in custody since November 22.

His solicitor, Stephen Carty, told the court: "The significant problem here is alcohol.

“With his remand, it is the longest period he has not had access to alcohol and it has had a beneficial effect on him.

"I am not moving for bail but a social work background report may be useful to see if there is an alternative to custody."

The Sheriff deferred sentence until October 15 for the report and a restriction of liberty order assessment and again remanded Shewan.
