A leading UK retailer says it will cover the costs of damage caused to two vehicles after the entrance sign to one of its stores fell off during high winds last weekend.

Two cars were damaged at Springfield Retail Park in Elgin after the sign to the B&M store was blown off on Sunday, November 24.

The incident happened as Storm Bert made its way across the country while yellow weather warnings were in place for much of the weekend.

The retailer confirmed that nobody was injured as a result of the incident but added that it would cover all costs to repair the damage caused to the vehicles.

A spokesperson for B&M said: “The safety of the customers involved is our priority, and we are thankful that nobody was harmed in this accident.

“We have identified the customers affected by this accident and have successfully reached one of them, while we await a response from the other.

“B&M will fully cover all costs related to the damages."
