THE outgoing president of Rotary Elgin has handed over the reins to her successor for 2021-22.
Retired headteacher Ian Brodie officially takes over the role today from 2020-21 president Lorna Williamson, whose strong leadership and compassion has led the club though what has been a most difficult and challenging year.
Lorna described the past year as "a journey of discovery during which there were many challenges but also opportunities".
She added: "This presidential year has demonstrated how flexible and adaptable Rotary can be."
Incoming president Ian is proud to have served in Scottish education for 32 years. He worked in various schools around Scotland as a class teacher, retiring from the headteacher’s post at Kinloss Primary School in 2006.
The newly installed president said: "Three years ago, as a member of Rotary Elgin, I was honoured to be asked to consider becoming president of this prestigious club.
"I would like to express my gratitude to all the members who have supported me during the last three years and I now look forward to being your president.
"I will endeavour to do the Elgin club proud, supported by very committed members who give up so much of their time with their 'Service Above Self'."
