Elgin man restrained by door stewards after he launched glass bottle attack.
A reveller was restrained by door stewards after he repeatedly hit another man over the head with a bottle.
Witnesses saw Jake Bremner leave an Elgin town centre nightclub at about 11.30pm on August 6 and walk up an alleyway.
Shortly afterwards he returned with a glass beer bottle in his hand and launched the attack outside the club.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard that the 24-year-old knocked his victim to the floor and hit him several times, leaving the man with cuts to his head.
Two door stewards promptly grabbed hold of Bremner and restrained him on the ground until the police arrived.
Defence solicitor Grant Daglish stated that his client had no memory of the attack, but had admitted his guilt after seeing CCTV footage of the incident.
The lawyer added: “At the time he was misusing sleeping tablets and mixing them with alcohol. Quite rightly he could receive a custodial sentence but I would ask the court to stop short of that.”
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood ordered the defendant, who lives at Springfield Drive, Elgin, to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work for the community.
He also placed Bremner under a home curfew for the next four months between the hours of 7pm-7am.
