SNP MSP Richard Lochhead has commented on the bank closures in Moray, after a debate held at Westminster.

Douglas Ross, Conservative MP for Moray, secured a debate at Westminster about the closures.

Lossiemouth was left cashless over the weekend, with just two ATMs remaining in the town.

Richard Lochhead said: "As if losing the community’s only high street bank branch wasn’t enough, we have the unacceptable situation where both Lossiemouth’s cash machines can run out of cash which is a major inconvenience to local families and businesses who need access to cash facilities at weekends.

"It’s a ridiculous situation and drives home the fact that the UK Government must regulate bank provision so that our local communities are not left cashless. I will be contacting the relevant authorities seeking action to seek action to support bank customers in Lossiemouth."
