Risk of poisoning for dogs at Elgin’s Cooper Park





Signs have been posted up around Cooper Park boating telling people not to let their dogs or children come into contact with the water.

Moray Council is warning that there may be a build-up of blue-green algae. If ingested the algae can cause diarrhoea, vomiting and breathing difficulties.

"A potential blue-green algal bloom has been observed in this water body," the notices states.

"It is a sensible precaution for you, your children and your animals to avoid contact with the scum and the water close to it."

Cooper Park’s boating lake has had ongoing issue with blue-green algae. Similar notices were posted around it last summer.
