Buckie and Fochabers roads to close for Remembrance Sunday commemorations





A number of local streets are set to be closed to allow Remembrance Sunday events to take place on November 10.

Taking place between 10am and 11.45am, a total of three roads in Buckie will be affected - High Street (from the junction of Well Road to Cluny Square), East Church Street (from the Bank of Scotland to the Square) and West Church Street (from the Thistle Bar to the Square).

No diversions will be in place with drivers advised to use adjacent streets.

In Fochabers from 2.30pm to 3.30pm the High Street at the war memorial near the entrance to Gordon Castle will be closed. There is no recommended diversion, with traffic being held at that point.

Openreach will be working at two Buckie locations to enable new localised ultra-fast broadband connection. Work at March Road East is scheduled for completion by Tuesday while work outside 50 Ewing Crescent has an estimated start date of November 5-6 for three working days.

In Buckie, efforts are ongoing to fix damage to the carriageway on McLaren’s Brae caused by torrential rain.

Moray Council are due to finish kerbing repair work at Low Street by Tuesday.

The council are also undertaking a number of street lighting replacement projects in the local area.

The stretch from Baron Street to the Yardie began on October 25 and is set to run for 29 working days.

Meanwhile work carries on between No 14-110 Main Street.

Over in Portgordon, work was scheduled to get under way in an area spanning the village hall and up the brae on October 31 with an estimated run time of 17 working days.

The council have been digging out and re-concreting two panels of footway between Nos 51 and 53 and between Nos 57 and 59. It is expected that this will be finished by Tuesday.
