WORK to resurface a stretch of the A96 between Elgin and Lhanbryde will begin tomorrow evening, Bear Scotland has announced.

.

The improvements will address any existing defects in the road across a section nearly a kilometre in length at Barmuckity.

With the intention of minimising disruption, the work has been split into two phases.

The first phase will begin at 7.30pm on Friday and will involve continuous 24-hour working until 6.30am on Monday.

Resurfacing will then continued for two nights between 7.30pm and 6.30am on both Monday and Tuesday.

A 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours.

However, all traffic management will be removed during the daytime.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North-East representative, said: "These surfacing improvements have been designed to improve the general condition and safety of this section of the A96.

"We thank motorists for their patience in advance while we complete this project."

The work had originally been programmed to take place earlier this month but was postponed due to bad weather.
