The centres at Gollachy, Dallachy, Keith and Forres will ditching the restrictions although the Chanonry recycling centre in Elgin will retain the booking system for the present.

from Monday, it will no longer be necessary to book an appointment at recycling centres around Moray, with the exception of the Chanonry site in Elgin where it will remain in operation.

Mr Ross said: “The last year has been tough for everyone and people have had to change how they do things, particularly with changes to services due to availability of staff and councils having to adhere to restrictions.

“With a reduced kerbside recycling service, one of the things that people contacted me about was the fact that they couldn’t just go to their local amenity site to get rid of their excess waste.

“This situation improved when the recycling sites reopened, but not everyone was in favour of the booking system, so I’m pleased that following the further easing of restrictions, Moray Council has taken the decision to return recycling centres to normal activity from Monday, August 9. Some restrictions will remain in place, however, at the Elgin Chanonry site for health and safety reasons.

“I know this will be welcomed by the many constituents who contacted me and it’s good to see more and more services returning to normal now it’s seems we have come through the worst of this pandemic.”
