Rotary Elgin was joined by Moray Council leader Kathleen Robertson at their latest meeting.

Kathleen's talk focussed in part as her background as a vet in Forres.

Margaret Stenton said: "Kathleen spoke about working with the smallest to largest of animals – and she drew a

parallel between being a veterinary surgeon and a councillor.

"She has held office as President of the Scottish Branch of Veterinary Association and been on the Children's Panel.

"And now she is the leader of Moray Council having only first stood as a councillor last May.

"During her presentation, Kathleen's passion and desire about helping, developing and promoting Moray as a great

place to live, while also recognising and protecting the environment, shone through.

"She acknowledged that clearly there are huge ongoing challenges facing Moray Council across many sectors, not least continually working under persistent financial and political pressures.

"However she hopes that by drawing on her own personal life's experiences, particularly in relation to education, economic development and social services, and by working in partnership with other councillors, they can make a difference for the community of Moray."
