Moray school Hythehill Primary in Lossiemouth marks 60th anniversary

Hythehill Primary in Lossiemouth has celebrated its 60th birthday in style.

All the pupils took part in putting on a dance display which took the audience through the decades since the school opened in 1965.

Headteacher Beckie Andrews said: “For six decades, Hythehill has been far more than just a school building. It has been a place of warmth, of laughter, of learning – a place where everyone shines brightly.

“Over the years, thousands of children have walked through our doors, each one bringing their own light, their own story, and their own dreams.

“From our youngest learners in P1 to our confident role models in P7, Hythehill has always nurtured the belief that every child matters and every voice deserves to be heard.”

The anniversary event was attended by Catherine Rae whose father, James McKay, was the school’s very first headmaster in 1965.

She fondly recalled visiting when the school was still just a building site, and how it gradually took shape, and then went on to become a beacon for education and hope.
