AN INVITATION has been issued to older people in Moray to try seated Tai Chi Qigong for free.

The session is being offered as part of a programme designed by Royal Voluntary Service and Prudential to give people the chance to try something new.

Called First Time for Everything, it aims to provide fun activities while helping older people to stay active and social.

The RVS and Prudential are behind the seated Tai Chi session in Lossiemouth.

RVS activity co-ordinator Ian Menzies said: "Tai Chi can help with many of the aspects of growing older including improving balance, boosting the immune system, strengthening bones and muscles, improving posture, increasing endorphin levels and aiding in a good nights’ sleep."

The session will be led by local Tai Chi practitioner Caroline van der Heiden, who will demonstrate some of the basic elements of the activity. No previous experience is necessary and the session is suitable for all levels of fitness and physical ability.

It takes place at Lossiemouth Sports and Community Centre on February 18 at 1.45pm, and light refreshments will be served.

Contact Mr Menzies on 07342 052420 or by email at ian.menzies@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk to book a place.
