The Friends of the Biblical Garden are planning to hold a special thanksgiving service once the coronavirus had been defeated.

The group, which raises funds for the visitor attraction beside Elgin Cathedral, has already cancelled the Easter Sunday service it was planning to hold in the Garden this weekend.

Maggie Sharp, the group's secretary, said: "It is hoped we can hold a sunrise service of thanksgiving once we are through the pandemic and all its restrictions."

The Biblical Garden, which opened in June 1996, contains 73 of the 110 plants and flowers referred to in the Bible. Those missing from the list don't flourish in the Scottish climate.

It developed from an idea of Donald McBean, then senior horticultural officer with Moray Council.

The Garden is also used as a base by the horticulture students at Moray College.
