Seven-bed Moray home for sale for £650,000 includes 24 acres, bothy and riding arena
A seven-bed country home with a traditional bothy, five paddocks, a riding arena and drawing room is on sale for £650,000.
Glen of Rothes House, between Elgin and Rothes in Moray, has hit the market as part of a 24-acre package.
Estate agent firm Galbraith, which is marketing the property, said it featured “wonderful views over the surrounding countryside”.
A two-bedroom uninhabited bothy on the site could also make for a great self-catering or rental opportunity after some “modernisation”, a spokesperson added.
The property, which is two miles north of Rothes and eight miles south of Elgin, is more than 120 years old, according to the home report.
Set in 24 acres of land, the price includes a large garden, a 20m by 40m riding arena, five paddocks, ponds and woodland.
Along with the seven bedrooms, the house is packed with “open fireplaces and corniced ceilings” and has three reception rooms.
The ground floor of the property includes a “drawing room”, “morning room”, “boot room” and “mud room”.
Several other outbuildings are also included in the sale, including a traditional steading with workshop, storage areas and an externally accessed gunroom/store.
Also on offer is a modern steel-portal framed shed, about 18m by 8m, with a concrete floor, power and lighting, with several other sheds and kennels.
The Galbraith spokesperson also said Glen of Rothes House is close to the “thriving local community” of Rothes, along with Elgin, Craigellachie and Aberlour.
Also praised was the Moray weather, along with golf courses and opportunities for shooting and fishing.
The home currently has an EPC rating of F, but could be improved to a C according to the home report.
