Moray village of Kingston to have 18-inch shingle bank to protect against floods
A plan to build an 18-inch high shingle bank to combat coastal erosion in Kingston will go on show next week.
Moray Council, funded by the Scottish Government, aims to have the bank built between Lein car park on the west side of the village, and the main shingle ridge at the lagoon on the east side.
Council staff will be at the golf club between 3pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday, October 23, to answer questions from residents and hear their thoughts on how flooding and erosion is hitting the area.
Marc Macrae, who chairs the economic development committee, said: “Community engagement is vital as we tackle the challenges of coastal erosion and flooding.
“This drop-in event is an opportunity for residents to voice their views, share ideas, and learn about the solutions being put in place to protect coastal communities across Moray.”
Representatives from SEPA and NatureScot will also be at the golf club to answer questions.
Kingston was among the first areas of focus for the council’s wider Coastal Adaptation Plan, which has been developed for the entire Moray coastline.
