THE shooting of a herring gull is being investigated by police in Buckie.

Police Scotland has appealed for information following a report of a gull being killed around 6pm on Wednesday, May 3 in the Letterfourie Gardens area.

Wildlife Crime and Environmental Officer, Constable Corbett said: “All birds including gulls are protected by law under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and cannot be killed unless a licence has been issued by Nature Scot.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward."
