Specialist rescue teams called to Fochabers in incident that remains “ongoing”
SPECIALIST rescue teams were called in to deal with an “ongoing” incident in Fochabers, where one casualty has been handed into the care of ambulance crews.
Emergency services remain on the scene near the Spey Bay Roundabout on the B9104, which runs alongside the River Spey.
Specialist rope and water rescue teams earlier assisted at the scene, while a Scottish Charity Air Ambulance landed at Fochabers cricket pitch.
The exact nature of the incident and the welfare of the casualty remain unknown, with the incident ongoing.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 11.29am on Wednesday, July 3, Operations Control mobilised two appliances and specialist rope and water rescue teams to assist emergency service partners at an incident on the A96, near Fochabers, Moray.
“One casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service."
The Scottish Ambulance Service added: “We received a call at 11.22am today to attend an incident in Fochabers and dispatched a number of resources to the scene.”
Police Scotland have been approached for comment.
