A STAFF member at the Oaks has been raising money to keep the care unit's garden looking its best.

Karyn Sim, who usually works as an administrator at Spynie but has been transferred for the time being, regularly makes dolls to sell and raise money for charity.

She charges £15 for each doll – and this year £10 from each sale is going to the Oaks to help gardener Jane Smith.

Karyn said: "I make these dollies – usually fairies – and sell them to raise money for charity.

"The garden at the Oaks was looking a bit tired and Jane said volunteers not allowed to work there so I thought I would help."

Since lockdown, Karyn has created 14 dolls. Most are sold to friends and family through word of mouth.

However, if you are interested in buying a doll you can get in touch with Karyn via her personal Facebook profile.

She added: "I like a challenge, if there is anything different then I want to try it.

"I'm in the middle of making an admin person doll. Usually each doll takes me three or four days to make."

The dolls have been designed after and enjoyed by a number of staff members at the Oaks.

Our photographer Daniel Forsyth grabbed these photos of the staff with the dolls.
