Large rise in fish landings at Buckie Harbour

THERE was a large increase in the landings at Buckie Harbour over the course of the week.
Five boats in all took their catches ashore, with 788 boxes of fish/prawns/squid being recorded. This compares to just 84 boxes the week before.
Again, no bags of clams were landed.
Taking their catches to the quayside were: Lily Oak VI; Boy Sam; Chloe Ella; Gratitude; Ceol Na Mara.
It was a busier week on the cargo front, too with two vessels calling at Buckie.
First in was the Antiguan-registered MV Pregol Hav on March 20 which imported 1627.8 tonnes of malt from King's Lynn before sailing light to Bremen on March 23.
On March 24 MV Frisium (Dutch) imported 2004.64 tonnes of soya from Rotterdam. She is scheduled to export approximately 2150.000 tonnes of pebbles/cobblestones to Gunness on the afternoon of Monday, March 29.
