HELPING those hit hardest by the aftermath of Storm Arwen is keeping a local MSP and her team busy round the clock.

Karen Adam, who represents Banffshire and Buchan Coast, has described the effect of the storm on people's lives as "unprecedented" as various agencies battle to bring life back to normal for thousands of households across the north-east

She said: “We’re now on day five of Storm Arwen, my team and I are continuing to work round the clock to support people in need across Banffshire and Buchan Coast as much as possible, so please, if you are in need of food, water, warmth, charging or washing facilities, get in touch with me as soon as possible so I can help.

“I have also been liaising with local authorities, Scottish Water, SSE, local businesses, and other organisations to maximise facility use to help ensure people in need of assistance have facilities available to them. Please keep the constant communication stream coming in and highlighting issues to me as they come up so I can have them reported and dealt with as soon as possible.

“What has happened in the last week has been completely unprecedented but people across the community have pulled together in these difficult times and I want to thank everyone who has been a part of that.

“I will continue to make regular updates of where residents can go to for warmth, food and drink, charging points, and washing facilities on my Facebook and Twitter pages as they come through to me.

“Remember, my office team and I are on hand to help where needed most so please continue to get in touch with me so we can help. If phone lines are busy, leave a voicemail or email me and we will absolutely get back to you.

“I know those who are without continuous power might not have the ability to get this information, so anything you can do to spread the word where you live and beyond is really appreciated.”
