UHI Moray in Elgin has packed month in August
UHI Moray had a packed calendar in August - with the university holding its Pride event, crowning its Student of the Year and welcoming new and returning students.
Below, we have listed some of the highlights.
Pride in Moray 2025
UHI Moray hosted Pride in Moray 2025 on Saturday, August 9, at the Alexander Graham Bell Centre.
With showstopping entertainment and an array of vendors, the event brought the community together in celebration of LGBT+ history and pride.
Student of the Year crowned
UHI Moray announced its Student of the Year for 2025 in August.
The university named Matthew Young, who studied our Art and Design UAL Level 3 Award and Diploma, as the winner.
Matthew was recognised for his resilience, creativity, and personal growth despite facing the tragic loss of his mother earlier this year.
Moray School of Art student showcased at exhibition in London
Cali Duncan, was selected to exhibit their work at the Origins Creatives 2025 exhibition.
The exhibit, which celebrates emerging talent across a wide spectrum of creative disciplines, was held in July at the Mall Galleries in central London.
Students return!
UHI welcomed new and returning students in August.
Over the past few weeks, UHI campuses have been welcoming students as part of their inductions.
These sessions have been key in helping students meet lecturing staff, explore campuses and connect with fellow students.
Acting students were given the chance to visit Eden Court; hospitality students received a team building lesson from an RAF reserve; sports students hit the ground running with fitness activities and hairdressing students welcomed their first clients.
Classes have now fully kicked off.
The Little Lunchbox reopens
The Little Lunchbox has reopened in the Elgin campus’ refectory.
After a long summer break, Kathleen and the team at the Little Lunchbox reopened to staff, students and visitors with a revised offering.
This year they will be providing a grab and go service alongside their made to order goodies.
Modern Apprenticeships continue to rise
Modern Apprenticeship numbers at UHI are growing, reflecting the increasing value employers are seeing to their business by recruiting an apprentice in the workplace or upskilling existing staff.
