Buckie stolen vehicle incident and fire results in three men being arrested





A trio of men have been arrested after a vehicle was stolen and left on fire in Buckie.

Dramatic video footage shows the aftermath of the incident near the Victoria Bridge, with a car in flames.

Police confirmed that three men - aged 36, 32 and 31 - have been arrested and charged in connection with theft and vandalism.

Officers attended reports of a “disturbance” and a vehicle on fire in the town at 7.40pm on Tuesday (May 27). The blaze was put out by fire crews.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 7.40pm on Tuesday, May 27, officers attended at Wallace Avenue following reports of a vehicle fire and a disturbance.

“The fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Inspector Andy Meikleham said: "This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and I would like to reassure the public that we will act on any information we receive and thoroughly investigate any incidents that do happen."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We were alerted at 7.37pm on Tuesday, May 27, to reports of a vehicle fire in Buckie.

"Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene, close to the Victoria Bridge, where firefighters were met by a well-developed fire involving a car.

"Crews extinguished the fire and thereafter left the area."
