Three drivers are to be charged with dangerous driving.

The trio were caught doing more than 100mph across local roads.

On Friday, March 5, on the B9013 Newton to Burghead road, an 18-year-old man was traced driving at 111 mph in a 60 mph limit.

And on Saturday, March 6, on the A96 Forres to Alves road, a 43-year-old man was doing 104 mph in a 60 mph limit.

The worst case came on Sunday, March 7, on the Blackdog to Ellon road, when a 36-year-old man was driving at 122 mph in a 70 mph limit. All three will be the subject of reports to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to dangerous driving.

Sergeant Peter Henderson of Police Scotland’s North East Road Policing Unit said: “Speeds such as these are just not acceptable and could very well put not only themselves, but other road users in danger.”
