Skotoberfest in Aberdeenshire to offer tons to keep the family entertained at Castle Fraser

A brand-new north-east festival is set to provide fun for all the family - with tons to keep youngsters entertained, including a dedicated kids’ zone.

All-day event Skotoberfest is taking place at Aberdeenshire’s Castle Fraser on Saturday, October 11, and organisers have said there is something lined up for everyone - from toddlers to big kids!

For the little ones, there is a whole world of fun included with their wristbands.

Lovable Mrs Bubbles will be on hand with her face painting and balloon modelling, while Mr Bubbles the clown will amaze with juggling, hat tricks, and magic.

The Heartwood Circus Project will teach circus skills like balance props and diablo spinning, and the Moray Flying Circus will get kids involved with juggling, hula hoops, spinning plates, and “have-a-go” sessions. Stilt walkers will make for perfect photo opportunities.

All of this will be staggered throughout the day.

On top of that, the kids’ zone is packed with thrills.

Jensen Codona & Son Amusements have a climbing wall, zorb balls, bumper cars, chair-o-planes and teacups.

Bounceabout Castles have five inflatables in a safe area, hair braiding and tasty treats from Bertie’s Sweets of Banff.

It’s not just youngsters who will be well accomodated for, though.

The Tinkle Tap Bar will serve capped-price drinks and specials all day.

Adults can take on a sausage-eating contest (pre-book via Eventbrite), test their strength with the hang bar challenge, try their luck at darts and penalty shootouts, or step into the Shaken Bahookie 360° photo booth.

The festival’s on-site mega market of local food, drink and craft producers will be heaven to many. For keepsakes, there’s a permanent jewellery stall and Box Brand merchandise.

The event is also offering a free drop and collect tent to store your purchases, instead of having to carry them around the festival.

Of course, all of this comes on top of the musical offering - which begins at 11am and runs right the way through until 10.30pm.

Playing on the day are: Turriff Silver Oompah Band; Annie Lennox by Shona McVey; Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra; Monza Express; The Proclaimers by Broclaimers; Rock Choir; Dignity - the Deacon Blue experience and Broma. A surprise act is still due to be confirmed!

A family ticket for Skotoberfest - for two adults and three children aged between five and 12 - is £60.

Individual tickets are £26 for adults, £24 for teenagers (13-17) and £12 for children aged between five and 12. Children under the age of five go for free. All kids tickets include a 50 per cent discount on a castle tour.

Organisers are offering a 10 per cent discount for blue light cardholders, students and over 60s, NFU and Young Farmers members and National Trust members.

For discounted tickets email yourvibe2010@gmail.com, while all other tickets can be bought at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/skotoberfest-tickets-1235416868109?aff=oddtdtcreator

Premier Coaches are providing a shuttle bus service from Inverurie and Kemnay. Return tickets for the bus will be £10 and will be payable on the day to the driver.

Parking will be available at Castle Fraser, manned by Alford Rotary Club. This will cost £2 and is available to pre-book through Eventbrite.
