Elgin’s Cooper Park pond ‘revitalised’ by stone repair work and water clean-up

Repair work and a clean-up have been carried out at a town’s much-loved pond.

The pond at Cooper Park in Elgin was covered in a blue-green algae for much of the summer, but is now looking cleaner.

This is thanks to a work to “revitalise” the pond that was carried out by Moray Council.

Works included repairing vandalised stonework and pulling litter out of the water.

A Moray Council spokesperson said: “Work was completed to revitalise Cooper Park pond.

“This included work to clear the pond of litter, which had been postponed due to the presences of blue-green algae.

“The stonework around the pond’s edge was repaired, and the water level was raised to enhance its overall appearance.

“In addition to this, vandalism to the coping stones was reported to Police Scotland.”
