Tree grant programme opens for north-east applications
Apache Corporation has announced the opening of applications for its Tree Grant Programme’s 2024-2025 planting season in the UK.
“Both environmental stewardship and energy production are priorities for Apache in our operations across the globe,” said Jillian Owen, Apache’s UK country manager.
“Last season we were delighted to award a variety of native Scottish trees to some excellent projects being delivered by nonprofits around the region in which we operate.
“This year, we are excited to welcome even more organisations to come forward and benefit from the donation of trees to support large- and small-scale conservation projects that are regenerating our beautiful Scottish landscape.
“This programme helps ensure that we work together today to create a more sustainable world for our children and grandchildren, as well as many future generations.”
The launch of this year’s programme follows the success of last season’s inaugural tree donations as Apache expanded the successful initiative from the US to Scotland.
The Apache Corporation Tree Grant Programme was founded in 2005 in the US and has granted more than five million trees in the US to over 1000 partners.
In Scotland, the programme donated more than 3600 trees to five nonprofit partner organisations including Camphill School Aberdeen, River Dee Trust and Findochty Primary School to support efforts including reforestation, flood prevention, restoration and habitat creation projects for communities around Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
The programme is open to UK nonprofit organisations and government agencies.
Recipients must agree to receive all awarded trees in a single delivery and are required to provide ongoing care and maintenance of the trees.
Grant awards will be announced on October 1, 2024, and all trees must be received and planted or distributed no later than May 31, 2025.
