THE family of a "gentle" and "kind-hearted" young mother has paid tribute to her.

Kerri MacDonald (28) was killed in a three-vehicle collision near Alves on Friday evening.

A statement released by Police Scotland on behalf of her family said: "Sadly, as a result of a traffic accident, we lost Kerri on Friday 28th March.

"Kerri was a wonderful mum to Matthew, loving sister to Daisy and Maya, a caring auntie to Caden and Jacob, and much loved daughter of Pete and Lyn.

"Kerri was gentle, kind-hearted person who was a friend to many and took great joy in spending time with those she loved.

"A light has gone out from our world."

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A96 west of the village just after 6.25pm.

Kerri, from the Elgin area, was driving a Ford Ka.

She died at the scene.

Two other vehicles - a grey Nissan Micra and a lorry - were involved in the collision.

The male car driver was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital with broken ribs and a fractured sternum.

The driver of the tanker sustained no physical injuries.
