TSI Moray are appealing for volunteers to participate in their new Hospital Homecoming project.
The company hope volunteers in Lossiemouth, Forres and Aberlour will participate in the new scheme, which provides short-term community support for people leaving hospital.
The trial project will run across Grampian, with support from the NHS and organisations across Moray and will dispatch local volunteers to help people leaving hospital with everyday tasks, like walking their dog, doing a food shop or giving them a lift to a hospital appointment.
Many of the patients who will receive help from the project are those with low support at home, which typically means they are unable to leave hospital for a longer period.
Gill Bird, who is coordinating the project for TSI Moray said: "The role is not about providing medical or personal care, it focuses on community support and being a good neighbour.
"We can see how stretched the NHS has been by Covid, so we hope the programme will provide them with some help by easing the discharge process."
The project will run for 12 weeks or less, giving people the time and support they need to get back on their feet after discharge.
Gill added: "We're really looking forward to getting started with the project, its a great way to support people to come back to their communities."
