THE UK government's Eat Out To Help Out scheme is set to come into effect on Monday.

Many places in Moray are taking part in the scheme, which will see sit-in customers get 50 per cent off food and drink, up to a total of £10 per person, on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The offer will run throughout August, with no limit to the amount of times one person can take part.

No voucher is needed to use the scheme and it can be used at the same time as other offers and discounts. There is no minimum spend.

Alcoholic drinks and service charges are excluded from the offer.

Ben Laing, director at Threaplands, welcomed the scheme.

He said: "Coronavirus has brought uncertainty to so many businesses but has especially affected the hospitality sector, which relies on the ability for people to meet and be in close contact to enjoy.

"The government has been extremely generous throughout the crisis and this newest scheme shows a real commitment to help businesses in the hospitality sector.

"The scheme will be welcomed by us as it gives further encouragement for society to return to normality.

"We would like to encourage visitors to the café to take full advantage of the scheme and eat out as often as possible – enjoying the most expensive menu choices that perhaps would usually be avoided.

"With continued support we have seen from our customers and continued assistance from the government, we have the potential to recoup the damaging losses sustained throughout lockdown. We look forward to welcoming both old and many new customers to the Threaplands family."

Please note some businesses partaking may not be listed, and some may still sign up before Monday.
