Moray toilet vandalism ‘disappoints’ Craigellachie Village Council





A village council has been left “really disappointed” after well-used toilets in a quaint whisky village were vandalised.

The vandalism has led to the closure of a gents toilet block situated beside the A95 and A941 near Craigellachie.

The toilet block was found heavily damaged with hand driers ripped off the walls, exposing the electrics, and broken pipes spewing water over the floor.

The Craigellachie Village Council said they were disappointed at the damage caused.

Craigellachie Village Council chairperson Mike Middlehurst said: “It is really disappointing that the damage occurred.

“They were well used by locals, working people and tourists, so it has a significant effect on many people

“Moray Council was quick to respond. Thanks go to the staff who were called out on a Sunday morning to do this.”

The vandalism was reported to Police Scotland on October 23 after the incident, which took place on October 18.

Enquiries are currently ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact Police Scotland on 101.

If any locals and tourists need access to a different gents’ toilet block, the nearest is situated in Victoria Terrace, Aberlour AB38 9PW - two miles from Craigellachie.
