Universal Hall in Findhorn to host Dementia The Musical!
A brand-new musical will be visiting a coastal town as part of a Scotland-wide tour.
Dementia The Musical! is coming to Universal Hall, Findhorn, on November 7 for one night only.
The musical is produced by Scots poet and writer Ron Coleman, who is living with dementia.
He is working alongside well-known director Magdalena Schamberger and musical director Sophie Bancroft.
Marketing Manager at Universal Hall promotions, Shirley Barr, said: “The show started touring quite recently and has already received four-star reviews from theatre critics.
“It promises to be a good night which will leave the audience with plenty to digest and discuss post-show.”
The funny but moving musical is set in the not-so-distant future, where the ‘Bill of Rights’ replaces the ‘European Convention of Human Rights’ allowing organisations and care homes to deny the rights of individuals with dementia.
Three characters are set back to their youth, brought back to a care home in Dundee to face a tribunal after being accused of being troublemakers with no mental capacity.
Audience members will be treated to an interactive ending allowing individuals to decide the characters’ fate.
Tickets can be purchased on the night. It’s £12 for general admission, £10 concessions and £6 for under 16s.
