Moray woman from Dallas was carrying cocaine at Keith railway station
A vulnerable woman has been sentenced for helping an organised crime gang to supply cocaine.
Siobhan Proctor, stated by court papers to live in the village of Dallas, was involved in the illegal trade on May 5, 2023, both at Keith railway station and Bathgate station near Edinburgh.
Speaking at Inverness Sheriff Court, defence solicitor Stephen Carty asked for his 30-year-old client to be spared jail.
The lawyer said: "She has very positive family support and this can be dealt with by a community-based disposal."
Sheriff Gary Aitken agreed and said: "Whatever the reason you got into couriering Class A drugs, it is no excuse.
“People in organised crime are not nice people. They prey on others, particularly the weak. However, I will give you a chance."
Sheriff Aitken instead ordered Proctor to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work for the community.
He also placed her under the supervision of social workers for the next two years and imposed a home curfew. This means she must wear an electronic tag and remain inside her home between 8pm and 6am for the next four months.
