Ward 5 at Dr Gray's closes after small number of coronavirus cases confirmed

A NUMBER of coronavirus cases have been confirmed at Dr Gray's in Elgin.

Ward 5 at the hospital has been closed due to a small outbreak of the virus. It's hoped the ward can reopen today.

A small number of employees have contracted covid-19, with the close contacts of those employees also forced into a period isolation.

Alasdair Pattinson, General Manager at Dr Gray's, said: "We are investigating a small number of cases of covid-19 associated with ward 5 at Dr Gray's Hospital.

"A number of staff have been advised to self-isolate. We anticipate ward 5 will reopen today.

"We are extremely grateful to our wider staff team for their willingness to be flexible and support hospital management as appropriate cover is arranged.

"Covid-19 is present in our community and is circulating widely. Everyone must stick to the current restrictions and play their part in limiting the spread of the virus."
