THE Buckie Christmas Kracker saw the community come together to celebrate the start to the festive season and provide a chance for people to meet others - some of them for the first time since the pandemic began.

Kracker chairman Gordon Cowie was delighted to see the sun overcome a wet start to the day on Saturday and so many people in and around the square.

It was the first time since 2019 that the community event had taken place due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The event was not on the same scale as previous years, with no fireworks to celebrate the official switch on of the town's Chrismas lights and no parade.

However, the atmosphere was terrific and the town was busy with people during the day.

"People are glad to be out again. It has taken a lot of planning. This year we were late in starting because we didn't know if it would go ahead.

"We have pulled it together in three months but we have a very good team.

"It's fine to see the kids and the adults, all with smiles on their faces and getting back to some kind of normality."
