WATCH: Elgin father and sons tackle 50-mile Christmas Rudolph-Run for charity
A dad and his two sons are running 50-miles in November to raise funds for The Giving Tree at St Giles Shopping Centre in Elgin, which helps buy Christmas presents for underprivileged children and families in need.
Paul Wade and his two sons, Thorfinn (9) and Lachlan (6), from Elgin, are participating in the run for charity, in addition to some enthusiastic help from little Eilish (3), Paul’s daughter.
When talking about why he is always keen to do something charitable around this time of year, Paul said: “We want to raise money to buy Christmas presents for children and families in need. Every donation helps bring joy to those who need it most.
“I also want the boys to understand how much they can help people out.”
Lachlan added: “I just want everyone to have the best Christmas.”
However, this isn’t the first time the Wade family have been adventurous with their fundraising. In fact, it’s the third year in a row that they have done something like this and thoroughly ‘enjoy their time together’ while setting these challenges.
Paul is ‘so proud’ of his sons for continuously wanting to do more for those in need as he said: “I am just so proud of them. For the wee boys to take this on and meet every single night with no moans or groans and actually look forward to it. I’m so proud of them.”
The family have raised £900 so far, which is £700 more than their target of £200, and will continue to fundraise until the end of the month when their challenge comes to an end.
This certainly is not the end of Wade's fundraising journey as Thorfinn is keen to do a sponsored cycle and Lachlan wants to do a run in the snow.
