ELGIN stylist Alison Milton has an award-winning passion for hair that will see her show off her talents before the judges of a UK competition later this year.

Alison, co-owner of Weir Hairdressing in Bishopmill with her sister Moira Mulloy, is one of only four Scottish finalists in the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Awards 2011.

Following success in the Scottish heats of the event, she will be one of 36 competitors at the UK finals in London in September.

There were more than 800 entries at the initial photographic stage. Entries were judged by some of the UK’s leading hair icons, including Nicky Clarke and Edward Darley from Sassoon.

That saw Alison present her interpretation of Passionista at a live evening show to become one of the Scottish finalists.

"I’m so proud to have reached the UK final of such a prestigious competition," she said.

"I’ve always had a huge passion for hair, and I am very excited about taking part and competing against the best hairdressers in the country," she added.

The final will take place at the Roundhouse in Camden, London, where competitors will present in front of hundreds of people and be judged by the best in the industry.

The winner will get the chance to represent the UK in the International Trend Vision final in New York.

Sheila Jackson, competition spokeswoman, said: "Every individual who has reached the UK final should feel very proud of what they have achieved. It is fantastic to see so much passion and creativity, and I know our esteemed panel of judges found the standard of work higher than ever before."
