What is Moray Council thinking?

Sir

What was Moray Council thinking?

I realise that Moray Council have at the core of their thinking, a desire to capitalise on the aesthetic appeal of Elgin town centre. I understand, and in fact I applaud, this sentiment. However, this fundamental desire should, I believe, never be allowed to be borne by a minority section of our society.

I am writing this letter to highlight my, and many others’, plight when visiting the town centre. I am unfortunately one of a growing band of "disabled people." When you are disabled, it is imperative that your car doors can be fully opened and there is full access to the back of your car. The supermarkets understand our needs; why have these fundamental facts been completely overlooked by the council?

Please, please Moray Council, see the error of your recent decisions and restore to us unfortunate group of "disabled people" some parking spots of a nose-in type, out of the way of busy traffic. I am most concerned that sooner or later an accident will occur and on investigation the root cause will be shown to relate to your recent changes in disabled parking in the town centre.

Moray Council, wake up to this scandal!

Yours etc,

Pamela D. Strachan (Mrs)

Marleon Place,

Elgin.
