Events in Moray: What links lions, the Cabrach and your phone?

The answer is Moray Field Club which is starting up again next week.

Three talks are being hosted by the club inside Elgin Town Hall within the near future.

First up is 'African Adventures' at 2pm on Tuesday, January 17.

This presentation by Gordon Nicol, the club's treasurer, will focus on the wildlife he's encountered during trips to Africa.

At 2pm on Wednesday, February 15, Janet Trythall from Elgin Museum will give an illustrated talk about Alexander Graham Bell.

Bell, the inventor of the telephone, lived and worked in Elgin and Covesea for a time.

Finally, at 7pm on Thursday, March 16, Jonathan Christie and Sam Dowdall will talk about the Cabrach Trust.

The pair, who are the trust's CEO and development manager respectively, will outline the work being done to try boost the remote area of Moray.

Non-members are welcome to attend all three of the talks.

Entrance is £5 per person and includes refreshments.

Moray Field Club has already arranged several events for members between April and October.

April sees an evening visit to Elgin Museum, and May a beach walk from Lossiemouth to the Covesea lighthouse and museum.

A guided walk in Forres woods is scheduled for Midsummer's Eve, with another around Aberlour during the following month of July.

Also planned is a bus trip to the Cabrach in August, a visit to Morayvia aircraft museum and Kinloss Abbey in September, and a private tour of Innes House and grounds in October.
