ONE of the best things about the build up to Christmas is watching a good festive movie.

You can't beat getting warm and cosy on the sofa, hot chocolate in hand, Christmas lights on the tree and the big light off.

With one week left to the big day, what have you been watching so far?

The editorial and advertising team at Moray and Grampian - part of the Highland News and Media family - had a bit of fun the other day in our virtual office (we are all still working from home).

We had a good going discussion about Christmas films.

Over the next few days, we will review some of the crackers that came up.

They may be some of your favourites too, and you will undoubtedly have others which are a 'must watch' at Christmas for you.

Let us know your favourite Christmas film of all time and join the fun.

We kick off of festive movie review with Craig Christie, Jonny Clark and Louise Williams.

Tune in on Sunday afternoon for the next Christmas Cracker movies.

Elf

My favourite Christmas film has to be Elf.

You'd have to be a cotton-headed ninny muggins to pick any other movie.

It takes a bit to get me into the festive spirit but watching Will Ferrell getting over excited about everything there is to do with Christmas kind of has the desired effect.

A proper feelgood film!

After all, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear.

Home Alone

Surely the most classic comedy for any 90s kid, Home Alone was probably my favourite film during my primary school years.

The first - and, in my opinion, best - film of the Home Alone series was released in 1990 and is fun for all of the family.

The film sees a young Kevin McAllister (MacAuley Culkin) left at home at Christmas time to protect his house from clumsy burglars.

It's festive, it's funny and it's surely one that will take all 'millenials' back to the more mischievous side of their childhood.

Gremlins

WHAT'S not to love about Gremlins? This film just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Billy's father gets him an unusual pet from China for Christmas but it comes with three clear instructions - no water, no food after midnight and no bright light.

Of course, he violates all three rules (what else would you do?) and it all goes pear-shaped.

It was released in 1984 and as a young girl, I remember hiding behind the cushions when the terrifying Gremlin monsters start to take over.

It is so funny and a great film to get into the Christmas spirit.
