TICKETS go on sale tomorrow for Speyside's famous malt whisky showcase.

More than 700 events feature in the programme for the 2020 Spirit of Speyside Whisky festival, which runs from April 29 to May 4.

Organisers say this year's festival will be the biggest yet, attracting thousands of visitors to the area.

Since its inaugural year in 1999, the festival has succeeded in turning what was a quiet period during the tourist calendar into one of the busiest weeks of the year.

Last year, visitors from at least 35 countries arrived on Speyside for the six-day event.

Angela McOwan, the festival's events coordinator, said: "This year we are celebrating 21 years of the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, now recognised as the world’s finest whisky festival.

"Our diverse programme is jam-packed and will be our biggest yet, with more events to be announced in the coming weeks.

"There really is something for everyone, whether visitors want to get to know Speyside as an outdoor adventure destination as well as enjoy our whisky, taste its delicious larder, learn about industry innovations from our whisky masters or explore distilleries that will open their doors especially for the Festival.

"As well as our flagship Whisky Festival, visitors can also keep their eyes peeled for more information about our Gin Experience and Distilled Food & Drink festivals taking place later in the year."

Visit www.spiritofspeyside.com for the full programme, with tickets on sale tomorrow from noon.
