Buckie care home rated ‘very good’ by inspectors as residents and families sing praises of ‘perfect’ staff
A Moray care home has been given a big thumbs up by a Care Inspectorate team following a recent visit.
Netherha care home in Buckie has received a positive assessment in its latest report from the care sector standards watchdog, with one resident describing their care as “perfect” to the inspection team.
The independent regulator evaluated the service as very good (grade 5) for both how well it supports residents’ wellbeing and the quality of the setting.
The unannounced inspection took place in September and found that Netherha provides a warm, welcoming environment, with residents experiencing person-centred care and a positive living atmosphere.
Inspectors also noted strong communication with families, visible leadership and meaningful activities shaped around individuals’ preferences. Recent improvements to the sun lounge were highlighted as enhancing wellbeing and comfort.
Staff were praised for being “visible throughout the home and available to attend to people's needs”.
During the inspection, officials spoke to residents, their family members, staff and management, and observed daily life over two days. They found that residents “appeared well cared for”, and “felt good about themselves and had increased confidence”
Feedback from residents and families was extremely positive. One resident described the service as “perfect” while another added “you couldn’t get any better”. Relatives agreed, with one saying “our family member has received care clinically and personally that exceeded our expectations”
Emily Johnston, Manager at Netherha, said: “We are delighted that the Care Inspectorate has rated Netherha as very good.
“This positive report is a testament to the dedication, professionalism and compassion of our entire team, who go above and beyond to provide person-centred care every day.
“The positive comments from residents and their families mean so much to us, and we are grateful for their trust and support.
“This is a very strong report, but we never stand still - we'll keep listening, learning and improving to ensure Netherha remains a warm, supportive and happy home for everyone here.”
The inspectors highlighted two areas for further improvement: The environment could benefit from further enhancements to support people living with dementia; Cleaning of hoists and wheelchairs could be improved.
The Care Inspectorate evaluates care services using a six-point scale, ranging from 1 (unsatisfactory) to 6 (excellent).
