THE hunt is on for the best young singers in Scotland and Moray residents are being urged to apply.
Applications are now open for the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCOS), which is made up of singers aged from 16-25.
In addition, singers are needed for the National Boys Choir, which is for those aged from 10-17, and for the National Girls Choir, for those aged from 12-17.
Led by world-renowned conductor Christopher Bell, the basis of the choirs' activities stem from a week-long residential course.
During the week the repertoire for the year ahead is covered and choir members receive vocal tuition and singing lessons.
Comprising of the most promising young singers from across the country, membership for each NYCOS National Choir is granted by audition to those born, resident or studying in Scotland, or of Scottish descent. NYCOS alumni include a number of Moray singers, including Ross Cumming, Erin Ralph and Maria Waszyrowska who performed with the choir at the Carnegie Hall in 2018.
NYCOS offers financial support covering up to 100 per cent of membership and travel costs for those that would otherwise be unable to participate.
Everyone who applies – www.nycos.org.uk/joinus – by Friday, October 4 is guaranteed a free audition.
