An Elgin-based whisky auction is urging people to dig out their unwanted whisky and attend one of their free valuation events to find out what their bottles might be worth.

Siblings Murray and Dawn Greig, co-owners of Click Whisky Auctions, are extending an invite to everyone who has bottles of whisky they'd like valued to one of the events being held.

The valuations are taking place on Thursday, October 17, and Friday, October 18, from 10am until 5pm and on Saturday, October 19, from 10am until 2pm at Click Whisky Auctions, Unit 4, Chanonry Court, Elgin.

Since launching the business in December 2022, Click Whisky Auctions have held monthly auctions selling whiskies across the spectrum from everyday single malts to highly collectable bottles.

A free valuation service is offered to give members of the public an idea of the value of their bottles before deciding to sell, a service that co-owner Murray Greig is happy for everyone to use.

"Here at Click Whisky Auctions it's important to us that the selling process is as simple and transparent as possible, the free valuation service is part of that, ensuring customers get a good idea of what their bottles may sell for should they decide to sell them in our auction" he said.

When asked what someone should do if they can't attend their local valuation event or have too many bottles to take in Murray added: "That's not a problem for us, anyone who for whatever reason can't attend the event can call us and we can arrange to go to their home."

Mentioning that the winter period was a busy time of the year for their auction he continued: "It's amazing the range of bottles that we get, recently we had a customer call and ask me to go to their home and collect the bottles they wanted sold, he thought they were pretty ordinary bottles but one of them ended up selling for over £1000!

“It's a great feeling to see the surprise in people’s faces when they're worth more than they ever imagined.

“Of course, it's also a great time of the year to host these valuation events as It offers people an opportunity to find out the value of their bottles, should they decide to sell it also helps free up some space in their cupboard and cash in on their bottles, especially with Christmas just around the corner."
