Roddie (49) has teamed up with his trusted right-hand man Tommy Wilson (43) to succeed Dean Donaldson in the hot seat at Kynoch Park.

The new management team take charge for the first time when the Maroons host Huntly in an Aberdeenshire Cup quarter-final today.

Roddie and Wilson last bossed together at Huntly three years ago, and have plans to bring silverware to Keith.

Former Aberdeen and Motherwell star Roddie had been working in the Middle East in recent times, and revealed how he met up with Dons gaffer McInnes and his assistant Tony Docherty when the Pittodrie club took a winter break in Dubai.

“Aberdeen were across in Dubai at Christmas and New Year time, so I was along watching their training and speaking to Derek and Tony, keeping my finger on the pulse of the game,” he said.

“Brazil were playing South Korea in Abu Dhabi and I went over to that game as well.

“I’d not been involved in football since we left Huntly. But on speaking to (Keith chairman) Andy Troup, I realised it’s a great opportunity for us to get back involved in the Highland League.

Not every joint management scenario has been a success at football clubs over the years, but Roddie insists that he and Wilson are a well-matched pair.

He hopes their understanding and shared passion to do well can help bring some glory back to Keith.

“We both see the game in the same way and believe it should be played in the same way,” he said.

“We’ve got the same beliefs and ideas, we like the same players and it seems to work well.

“Keith’s a great club with a great history. They have a good loyal fan base and it’s nice to be involved with such a club.

“Being back involved again, we can hopefully progress even further again, and hopefully get some silverware to Keith.”
