Holly Whittaker and Gemma Forgie took part in the Scottish National Combined Events Championships in Caird Park Stadium, representing Aberdeen Amateur Athletics Club.

Holly was taking part in her first ever U17s heptathlon - which took place over two days - and won gold to become national under-17 hepathlon champion.

The seven events were 80m hurdles, shot put, 200m, javelin, long jump, high jump and 800m. Holly’s overall score of 4326 was good for gold.

She broke the Championship best performances in 80mH and in long jump, where she matched her personal best. She placed first in hurdles, long jump, 200m and 800m.

Gemma, meanwhile, took part in the U15s Pentathlon on Sunday, July 10.

In a tough field of 28 Scottish athletes, Gemma competed well in all five events (75m hurdles, shot put, long jump, high jump and 800m).

She achieved a new personal best in shot put and high jump (1m 50cm).

Her overall score of 2483 saw her finish in fourth place, just outside the medals.
