MASTERMINDING a first-ever SPFL defeat for Kelty Hearts is the aim of Elgin City manager Gavin Price this week.

The unbeaten Fifers look destined to win the League Two title in their debut senior campaign, and are City’s next opponents at Borough Briggs on Tuesday night.

The match had been scheduled for yesterday but Kelty had a Scottish Cup replay at Montrose.

That left Elgin with a second consecutive blank Saturday but they arranged a bounce game against Highland League Strathspey Thistle.

Price's side last played in a 1-1 draw at home to Edinburgh City a fortnight before the rearranged Kelty match.

They were without top scorer Kane Hester that night as he was banned having picked up a red card in the previous game at Stranraer.

But Hester has served his suspension and returns to face Kelty.

The City boss used the opportunity to get his full squad together on both of the last two weekends.

“It always helps us getting the whole squad together,” said Price. “We don’t get that often so it’s good to get a few sessions and build towards December which is going to be a big month.”

City were denied victory at Kelty earlier son by a stoppage time equaliser from the Fifers in a 1-1 draw.

"We were unlucky then but we played (last year's League 2 champions) Queen's Park here earlier in the year when we had to win, a full-time team and we deserved to win that day.”

"So we will give it our best go and we will have a game plan to try and beat them."

Missing the Kelty match will be skipper Euan Spark, who serves a one-match tot-up suspension, and Brian Cameron who is out with a knee injury.

Returning along with Hester could be Rory MacEwan who missed the last two games with a hamstring pull, while on-loan Cove Rangers midfielder Ross Draper will also be assessed on a knee injury.
