The Jags recovered from a penalty kick league cup reverse to claim the points.

The Highland League title now looks as if it will be a two horse race between Cove Rangers and Formartine Utd.

Cove were 1-0 winners at fellow title rivals Clach, while Formartine beat Fort William 4-1.

The other main contenders, Wick Academy and Nairn County, both slipped up. Wick went down 2-0 at Inverurie, while Nairn were held 1-1 at home by Fraserburgh.

Forres Mechanics claimed the points with a 1-0 win at Huntly.

It was a tenth straight defeat for Lossiemouth as they crashed 3-1 in a bottom of the table encounter at Strathspey Thistle.

Rothes' run of heavy defeats continued when they were thumped 5-0 at Deveronvale.

In the other game played, Brora beat Turriff 4-0.
