BUCKIE Ladies have sailed into the semi-finals of the Highlands and Islands League Cup without having to kick a ball.

The defending champions had been due to face Ross and Cromarty on Sunday in their third and final qualifying group stage. However, the Highlanders have had to forfeit the game due to a shortage of players.

It means that Buckie now top the group with maximum points. The remaining clash in the group will determine who between Nairn and Sutherland join them in the semi-finals, which are due to be played on Sunday, August 18. Buckie will play the runners-up in group 1.

Ross and Cromarty are set to again be the opponents when Buckie Ladies return to league business on Sunday, June 30. It will be the last game before the league breaks for the summer.
