Highland League champions Buckie Thistle sign Rothes’ double cup-winning midfielder Fraser Robertson on three-year deal
Buckie Thistle have signed experienced midfielder Fraser Robertson from Rothes on a three-year deal.
The 28-year-old starred for the Speysiders over the past five-and-a-half years, winning both the Highland League Cup and North of Scotland Cup with the Mackessack Park side.
Buckie manager Lewis MacKinnon said Inverness-based Robertson had been on Jags’ radar for some time.
"(I’m) delighted to get Fraser on board on a three-year deal,” MacKinnon said on Buckie’s Facebook page. “He is a player we as a management team have admired since he was a youngster at Clach."
"He is a well-rounded, box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal, and I believe he will be a tremendous addition to the squad as we look to compete on all fronts again this coming season."
Robertson helped deny Jags a trophy in 2020 when he was part of a Rothes team which beat Buckie 2-1 in the Highland League Cup final.
The following year he claimed a North Cup winners medal as Rothes defeated Brora 2-1 in the final.
Robertson is the second experienced midfielder to leave Rothes in the summer, after Alan Pollock made the move to Nairn County.
